UL 3304 High Voltage Ignition Wire for Gas Ignitor Systems

UL 3304 is a high voltage single-conductor silicone rubber insulated wire with fiberglass braid, recognised under UL’s AWM standard specifically for electronic ignition and gas ignitor applications. Rated at 200°C and 10,000V AC, it is engineered to withstand the combination of high voltage spark discharge, elevated ambient temperature near burner assemblies, and the mechanical stress of installation in tight appliance enclosures — conditions that eliminate virtually every other wire type from consideration.

The silicone rubber insulation provides the required dielectric strength to contain 10,000V ignition pulses without partial discharge or insulation breakdown, while simultaneously maintaining flexibility at the elevated temperatures found in the ignition lead routing path inside gas cooking appliances, space heaters, and industrial burner systems. The fiberglass braid outer covering protects the silicone insulation from mechanical damage during installation and from the thermal radiation of the burner assembly during service.

Produced at our Yangzhou facility under UL Follow-Up Service File No. E333030, UL 3304 wire is manufactured to the construction requirements defined in UL Product iQ — including the 40 mils minimum average silicone rubber insulation thickness and the fiberglass braid specification verified by UL Solutions.

Common Applications

Gas range and cooktop ignition systems

The primary application for UL 3304 wire is as the ignition lead connecting the electronic ignition module to the spark electrode on each gas burner of a gas cooking range or cooktop. The wire must route through the appliance body — passing within millimetres of hot burner surfaces — while withstanding the 6,000V to 10,000V spark pulse generated by the igniter at each ignition event. UL 3304 is specified by gas appliance OEMs globally as the standard wire for this application.

Gas water heater and boiler ignition

Used in residential and commercial gas water heaters, boilers, and combination heating units where the ignition lead must withstand continuous exposure to the elevated ambient temperature of the combustion chamber enclosure while reliably delivering ignition spark pulses over a product service life of 10–15 years.

Industrial gas burner systems

Specified for ignition leads in industrial gas burner assemblies used in process heating, drying ovens, kilns, and industrial furnaces where the ignition lead may be exposed to higher ambient temperatures than domestic appliance installations and must meet the more rigorous durability requirements of continuous industrial duty cycles.

Fuel oil burner ignition

Also used as the high voltage lead from the ignition transformer to the spark electrodes in fuel oil burner assemblies for residential and commercial heating boilers, where the combination of oil vapour, elevated temperature, and high voltage ignition pulses defines an extremely demanding operating environment.

Other applications

  • Gas barbecue and outdoor heater electronic ignition leads
  • Infrared gas heater ignition systems
  • Laboratory gas burner ignition leads
  • Commercial catering equipment ignition wiring
