Appliance & Equipment Internal Wiring — UL AWM Hook-Up Wire

This category covers the UL Recognized AWM hook-up wire styles CableApex supplies for internal electrical connections in household appliances, OEM equipment, and motor-driven products. These are single-conductor appliance wiring material (AWM) styles under UL Subject 758, used for the internal wiring inside an enclosure — line cord to switch, switch to motor terminal, heating element leads, thermostat and control connections — selected by the circuit voltage, the operating temperature at the wire, and the insulation material suited to the routing environment.

For the full style index see the AWM Wire category; see also UL Certified Cables, High-Temperature Wire, and Flexible Wire. The sections below map common appliance and equipment wiring needs to the relevant styles.

General Appliance Internal Wiring — 300V / 600V

For the standard internal wiring of household and commercial appliances, UL 1007 (80°C / 300V PVC) covers fine-gauge switch, control, and signal wiring, while UL 1015 (up to 105°C / 600V PVC) covers power connections and motor leads. See PVC Wire for the range.

High-Temperature Appliance Wiring

For internal wiring routed near heating elements or motor windings where temperatures exceed the PVC limit, silicone rubber provides 200°C continuous service. UL 3135 is bare silicone for totally enclosed routing, and UL 3172 adds a glass or aramid braid for abrasion protection at contact points. See Silicone Wire for the range.

Motor and Control Unit Internal Wiring

For motor lead connections and control unit internal wiring, the appropriate style is selected by the temperature at the lead connection — PVC up to 105°C, XLPE to 125–150°C for windings exceeding the PVC limit, and silicone to 200°C for leads near the winding or heating element. Stranded construction throughout eases routing and termination in compact assemblies.

Vehicle-Related Equipment Wiring

UL AWM styles are appliance wiring material and are not certified automotive cable. For equipment used in vehicle-related applications — accessory units, auxiliary equipment, and OEM assemblies evaluated by the buyer for the specific end use — the relevant AWM style is selected on the same basis as any equipment internal wiring: voltage, temperature, conductor size, and insulation material. The buyer is responsible for confirming suitability against the applicable automotive standard for the end application.

Selecting Internal Wiring

The correct wire is determined by the circuit voltage, the maximum continuous temperature at the routing location, the conductor size (AWG), the insulation material, the degree of flexibility required, colour, and quantity.

Request a Quotation

To receive a quotation, provide the AWG size, the circuit voltage, the operating temperature at the wire, the insulation material (or let us recommend one), the flexibility requirement, colour, quantity, and a brief description of the application. Quotations are returned within 24 hours, and mixed-style or mixed-AWG orders are accepted on a single shipment.
