XLPE Wire
XLPE AWM wire uses cross-linked polyethylene as the insulation material, which gives improved heat deformation resistance compared with many thermoplastic insulation materials such as PVC. The cross-linked structure provides improved thermal stability, allowing XLPE styles to hold higher continuous temperature ratings. This makes XLPE wire a common upgrade from PVC for motor lead, control panel, and equipment internal wiring where the enclosure ambient temperature, motor heat, or continuous current loading raises the wire temperature above the range of many PVC styles.
CableApex supplies XLPE AWM wire as a UL Recognized Component — file on record — covering four styles from 105°C to 150°C. Voltage, temperature, and AWG depend on the selected UL style; all four comply with RoHS and REACH, in the AWG ranges per the selected UL style, with tinned or bare copper conductor.
| UL Style | Voltage | Temperature | AWG Range | Primary application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UL 3266 | 300V AC | 125°C | 32–10 AWG | Compact 300V appliance internal wiring, thin 15-mil wall, PVC thermal upgrade |
| UL 3666 | 600V AC | 105°C | 32 AWG–1000 kcmil | 600V internal wiring where not subject to mechanical abuse |
| UL 3271 | 600V AC / 750V DC | 125°C | 30 AWG–2000 kcmil | Motor leads and 600V power circuits, optional semi-conductive layer |
| UL 3321 | 600V AC / 750V DC | 150°C | 30 AWG–4/0 AWG | Higher-temperature motor leads and industrial equipment, optional braid |
UL 3266 is the compact 300V entry point at 125°C; UL 3666 covers 600V internal wiring at 105°C; UL 3271 covers 600V motor leads and power circuits at 125°C with an optional semi-conductive layer; and UL 3321 raises the temperature ceiling to 150°C for higher-temperature motor leads and industrial equipment. Selecting the correct style matches the wire to the application’s actual voltage and temperature without over-specifying.
To request a quotation, send the UL style number, AWG size, voltage, temperature, colour, quantity, and a brief description of the application. Quotations are returned within 24 hours, and mixed-style or mixed-AWG orders are accepted on a single shipment.
