High Temperature Wire Cable
High-Temperature Wire & Cable — UL Recognized AWM by Temperature Class
High-temperature wire and cable are engineered for electrical applications operating in elevated-temperature environments where standard PVC hook-up wire cannot maintain insulation integrity or electrical performance. CableApex supplies UL Recognized appliance wiring material (AWM) under UL Subject 758, spanning continuous temperature ratings from 80°C to 450°C across PVC, XLPE, fluoropolymer, silicone rubber, and mica-insulated constructions. Every style is supplied as a UL Recognized Component — file on record — produced under active UL Follow-Up Service.
The correct specification for any high-temperature application is determined first by the continuous operating temperature at the wire routing location, then by the voltage rating, conductor size, and whether a protective braid covering is required. The sections below organise the full range by temperature class to guide selection.
Selecting by Temperature Class
| Temperature | Insulation | UL Styles | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80–105°C | PVC | 1007 · 1015 · 1569 · 10269 | General appliance and electronics internal wiring |
| 125–150°C | XLPE | 3266 · 3271 · 3321 · 3666 | Motor leads and power control wiring |
| 200°C | Silicone rubber | 3071 · 3122 · 3135 · 3172 · 3304 · 3573 | Oven, heating element, and ignition leads |
| 200–250°C | Fluoropolymer (FEP / PTFE / PFA) | 1332 · 1659 · 10362 | Chemically aggressive and thin-wall high-temp wiring |
| 200–250°C HV | High-voltage construction | 1911 (50kV) · 3239 (60kV) | Gas ignition and high-voltage DC systems |
| 450°C | Mica + glass braid | 5107 · 5128 · 5334 · 5335 · 5359 · 5360 · 5476 | Furnace, kiln, and extreme-temperature equipment |
PVC-Insulated Wire — 80°C to 105°C
PVC AWM is the cost-effective baseline for internal wiring where the routing temperature stays within 105°C. The range spans low-voltage 300V hook-up (UL 1007, 1569) through 600V (UL 1015) and 1000V (UL 10269) constructions. UL 1007 is the entry-level 80°C / 300V specification for the highest volume of consumer-product internal wiring; UL 1015 is the 600V workhorse for panel and appliance power wiring.
XLPE-Insulated Wire — 125°C to 150°C
Crosslinked polyethylene fills the temperature gap between PVC and silicone at a fraction of the silicone cost. It is the standard choice for motor lead wiring where winding temperatures exceed the PVC limit. UL 3266 (125°C / 300V) and UL 3321 (150°C / 600V) cover the most common motor and power-control applications, while UL 3271 extends to heavy gauges up to 2000 kcmil.
Silicone Rubber Wire — 200°C
Silicone rubber maintains flexibility and dielectric strength continuously at 200°C, making it the standard for oven, heating-element, and ignition wiring. The selection within this group depends on the covering: UL 3135 is bare silicone for totally enclosed routing; UL 3071 and UL 3172 add a glass or aramid braid for abrasion protection; and UL 3304 and UL 3573 are dedicated 10kV ignition constructions for gas and fuel-oil burner systems.
Fluoropolymer Wire — 200°C to 250°C
Fluoropolymer insulation combines high-temperature performance with near-universal chemical resistance and a thin, dimensionally uniform wall. UL 1332 (FEP, 200°C / 300V) is the lower-cost entry point; UL 1659 (PTFE, 250°C / 600V) offers the highest abrasion resistance; and UL 10362 (PFA, 250°C / 600V) combines PTFE-level temperature with melt-processable flexibility.
Mica + Glass Braid Wire — 450°C
Mica-insulated construction is specified where continuous operating temperatures reach 450°C — furnace internal wiring, kiln car circuits, and extreme-temperature process equipment. The group spans 300V (UL 5128, 5334, 5360) and 600V (UL 5107, 5335, 5359, 5476) constructions, with single and optional multi-conductor cable assemblies available. Nickel-plated copper conductors are recommended for sustained operation at 450°C.
UL Recognition
All high-temperature wire supplied by CableApex is produced under active UL Follow-Up Service as a UL Recognized Component — file on record. Each production reel carries the UL Recognized Component mark in accordance with UL Subject 758 marking requirements. Full recognition documentation is available on request for purchasing, compliance, or import customs purposes. Minimum order quantities and lead times vary by style and construction; quotations are returned within 12 hours of enquiry.
