UL 5360 Mica Wire

UL 5360 Mica Wire — 200°C or 450°C · 300V AC · Mica Tape Glass Braid · 30 AWG – 4/0 AWG

UL AWM Style 5360 is a nonextruded mica tape insulated wire with a glass braid outer covering, rated at 200°C or 450°C and 300V AC under UL Subject 758, Section 5. The insulation uses mica tape wraps with a glass braid treated with silicone varnish or TFE finish as the outer covering. Both single-conductor and cabled assemblies are available. An optional nickel or nickel-coated copper shield (36–30 AWG Type “A”) may be applied.

The permitted use is internal wiring where the wire is not subjected to repeated flexing and is protected from mechanical abuse, and where the acceptability — including current-carrying capacity — has been determined by UL. Typical protected internal wiring contexts include high-temperature industrial ovens, furnaces, and thermal processing equipment where the circuit voltage is within the 300V AC limit. The applicable temperature rating — 200°C or 450°C — is construction-dependent and order-dependent; confirm at enquiry stage. Application suitability is subject to equipment design, routing conditions, mechanical protection, and current-carrying requirements.

UL 5360 is the 300V counterpart of UL 5359, which is rated 600V and covers single or multiple conductor assemblies. For 600V mica wire from 26 AWG, see UL 5107. For 300V mica wire at 450°C with optional stainless steel shield, see UL 5128. For 450°C mica wire at 600V from 30 AWG, see UL 5476.
