UL 5360 Multi-Core Mica Glass Braid Cable Overview
This page covers UL AWM Style 5360 mica tape and treated glass braid insulated cable, supplied by CableApex as a factory-direct manufacturer. UL Style 5360 covers a conductor range of 30 AWG through 4/0 AWG and permits either a single conductor or two or more qualifying conductors to be cabled together into a multiple-conductor assembly. This page’s primary focus is the multiple-conductor configuration, supporting our Multi-core Cable range; buyers requiring a single-conductor UL 5360 construction should confirm that requirement separately during quotation.
UL 5360 multi-core mica glass braid cable is rated 200°C or 450°C, depending on the qualified ordered construction, at 300 Vac, built from non-extruded mica tape with treated glass braid, for internal wiring where not subjected to repeated flexing and protected from mechanical abuse. Core count, conductor material and finish, shield requirement, and packaging are confirmed according to the ordered specification.

| RoHS / REACH | Confirmed during quotation according to ordered materials and documentation requirements |
Mica Tape and Treated Glass Braid Construction
Each conductor is insulated with non-extruded mica tape, covered by a treated glass braid finished with silicone varnish or TFE finish according to the qualified construction. This is the defining insulation system for UL Style 5360 — a mica-and-glass-braid construction, not a silicone rubber, PTFE, FEP, PVC, or XLPE insulated product.
UL 5360 Construction Thickness by AWG Range
| Conductor Size | Mica Tape (min. avg.) | Treated Glass Braid (min. avg.) |
|---|---|---|
| 30–12 AWG | 12 mils | 7 mils |
| 11–8 AWG | 16 mils | 7 mils |
| 7–4 AWG | 20 mils | 15 mils |
| 3 AWG–4/0 AWG | 25 mils | 20 mils |
These are the exact minimum average construction values from the UL Style 5360 record and do not translate into an invented finished conductor or cable outside diameter. Conductor material, plating, strand count, and resistance are not established by the Style-level record and are confirmed according to your ordered specification.

Multiple-Conductor Cable Assembly
Two or More Conductors Cabled Together
UL Style 5360 permits either a single conductor or two or more qualifying conductors to be cabled together, with a maximum assembly outside diameter of 1.500 inches. This 1.500-inch figure is the maximum permitted OD for the assembly, not a standard finished diameter — actual assembly OD depends on core count, conductor size, and construction, and is confirmed for the ordered configuration. Core count is not fixed by the Style and must be specified according to your required assembly; this page does not present fixed 2-core, 3-core, 4-core, or other preset specifications.
Optional Binder, Fiberglass Fillers and Overall Treated Glass Braid
The multiple-conductor assembly may use a mica glass binder, fiberglass fillers, and an overall treated glass braid as optional construction elements. These are order-specific features, not standard components of every UL 5360 assembly — specify which, if any, are required when requesting a quotation.
Optional Nickel / Nickel-Coated Copper Shield
UL Style 5360 permits an optional shield of 36–30 AWG strands, using Type A Nickel or 27% minimum nickel-coated copper. This is an optional shield construction, distinct from the primary current-carrying conductors — the primary conductor material is not established as nickel or nickel-coated copper by this optional shield feature. We do not publish shielding effectiveness, EMI attenuation, transfer impedance, or braid coverage for this optional shield. If your application requires it, specify the shield material when requesting a quotation.
Protected High-Temperature Internal Wiring
UL Style 5360 is designated for internal wiring where not subjected to repeated flexing and protected from mechanical abuse. This is the application boundary for the product supplied from this page: protected high-temperature internal wiring, fixed internal multi-conductor routing, and protected internal cable assemblies. It is not intended as building wire, field wiring, branch circuit cable, power distribution cable, tray cable, direct-burial or outdoor cable, or an armored power cable, and this page does not position the product for underground, mining, automotive, EV, or marine applications.
Repeated Flexing and Mechanical Protection Limitations
The UL Style use statement explicitly excludes repeated flexing and requires protection from mechanical abuse. UL 5360 is not described on this page as flexible, extra-flexible, high-flex, continuous-flex, or a drag-chain or robotics cable. This product is not positioned for exposed workshop-floor routing, impact exposure, crushing, abrasion against machinery, direct burial, or exposed outdoor installation — these conflict with the mechanical-protection requirement. We do not publish a bending radius, as none is confirmed by the supplied UL record.
UL Marking and Documentation
Qualifying UL AWM Style 5360 constructions can be supplied through the relevant partner manufacturing scope associated with the applicable UL Recognized Component file on record. UL marking and related documentation depend on the specific qualified construction ordered; not every configuration automatically carries a UL Mark, and marking requirements should be confirmed when requesting a quotation. The UL use statement specifically references acceptability including current-carrying capacity — we do not publish an ampacity table or calculate current capacity from AWG; current-carrying capability must be evaluated against the actual construction, assembly, conductor size, and equipment conditions. We do not guarantee that a given shipment will pass a customer’s internal or third-party audit, certification review, or project bidding requirement.
RoHS and REACH are separate regulatory frameworks from UL recognition and are not treated as equivalent certifications on this page. Applicable RoHS / REACH documentation, where required, is confirmed according to the ordered materials and your documentation requirements.
