Mica Tape Wire
Mica tape AWM wire uses wrapped mica tape as the primary insulation material — a mineral-based insulation that provides temperature ratings of 200°C to 450°C. Mica is a crystalline silicate mineral that retains its electrically insulating form at temperatures that exceed the practical range of many polymer-insulated AWM wires, making mica tape wire a common selection for internal wiring near the high-temperature zones of industrial thermal equipment, and for equipment leads operating continuously above 200°C.
CableApex supplies mica tape AWM wire as a UL Recognized Component — file on record — covering seven styles. Voltage, temperature, conductor size, and construction depend on the selected UL style; several styles carry dual 200°C / 450°C ratings. RoHS and REACH documentation is available on request.
| UL Style | Voltage | Temperature | Primary application |
|---|---|---|---|
| UL 5107 | 600V AC | 200 / 450°C | High-temperature equipment internal wiring; widest AWG range; single or multi-conductor |
| UL 5128 | 300V AC | 450°C | 300V internal wiring near high-temperature zones; optional SS304 shield |
| UL 5334 | 300V AC | 450°C | Compact internal wiring where a smaller overall diameter is needed |
| UL 5335 | 600V AC | 450°C | 600V internal wiring leads in high-temperature equipment |
| UL 5359 | 600V AC | 200 / 450°C | Thin-wall construction; single or multi-conductor instrumentation leads |
| UL 5360 | 300V AC | 200 / 450°C | 300V single-conductor internal wiring in compact high-temperature equipment |
| UL 5476 | 600V AC | 450°C | 600V internal leads in high-temperature equipment; optional binder layer |
The mica styles share mica tape insulation but differ in voltage rating, temperature class, insulation wall, AWG range, and optional shielding or assembly. UL 5107 offers the widest AWG range; UL 5334 and UL 5359 provide more compact constructions; UL 5128, 5334, and 5360 cover 300V circuits; and 5107, 5335, 5359, and 5476 cover 600V. Selecting the correct style matches the wire to the application’s voltage, temperature, and conductor requirements.
To request a quotation, send the UL style number, conductor size, voltage, temperature, construction (single or multi-conductor, shield, covering), quantity, and a brief description of the application. Quotations are returned within 24 hours, and mixed-style or mixed-AWG orders are accepted on a single shipment.
