UL 1330 FEP Wire — 200°C, 600 Vac Appliance Wiring with Optional Gasoline and Oil Resistance
UL 1330 is a single-conductor appliance wiring material insulated with FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene), rated 200°C maximum at 600 Vac with a horizontal flame rating and evaluated under UL Subject 758. It covers conductor sizes from 30 AWG through 4/0 AWG in solid or stranded construction, spanning fine signal conductors to heavy power leads within one style. What distinguishes UL 1330 from most fluoropolymer AWM styles is the optional tag marking for gasoline resistance: the style permits tags indicating suitability for immersion in gasoline, exposure to gasoline vapour, and service at 80°C in oil. FEP Insulation at 200°C: Why This Style Exists
FEP occupies a specific position among fluoropolymer insulations. It delivers the chemical inertness, low friction surface and dielectric stability associated with the PTFE family, but unlike PTFE it is melt-processable and can be conventionally extruded, which produces a smoother, more consistent wall than tape-wrapped constructions and supports tighter dimensional tolerances. At 200°C maximum, UL 1330 sits well above what any PVC-insulated style can reach — UL 1032 tops out at 90°C and UL 1056 at 105°C — making it the appropriate choice where appliance internal wiring passes through genuinely hot zones rather than merely warm ones.
Insulation Wall by Conductor Size
The FEP wall scales across three brackets. Conductors from 30 AWG through 10 AWG carry 20 mils minimum average thickness with 18 mils minimum at any point — the bracket covering all common hook-up and lead wire gauges. From 9 AWG through 2 AWG the wall increases to 30 mils average, 27 mils minimum. The heaviest bracket, 1 AWG through 4/0 AWG, carries 45 mils average with 40 mils minimum at any point. An optional covering may be applied over the insulation: either additional FEP at 10 mils or heavier, or a glass braid at 7 mils or heavier, the latter adding abrasion resistance where the wire contacts sheet-metal edges or is pulled through tight passages during assembly.
The Gasoline and Oil Resistance Options
Beyond the base 200°C / 600 Vac rating, UL 1330 permits three additional tag markings that few appliance wiring styles carry: suitability for immersion in gasoline, suitability for gasoline vapour exposure, and 80°C service in oil. These options make the style relevant to appliance and equipment designs where internal wiring may contact fuel or lubricants — fuel-fired heating appliances, engine-driven equipment and oil-filled assemblies among them. The optional oil-resistant 80°C rating and optional gasoline resistance are specified at time of order rather than being standard on all product, so state the requirement when submitting an inquiry.
How UL 1330 Compares with Neighbouring FEP Styles
Style 1330 belongs to a closely related group of FEP appliance wiring materials that differ mainly in temperature and voltage combination. UL 1331 shares the same 600 Vac rating and 30 AWG–4/0 AWG conductor range but is rated 150°C rather than 200°C, and additionally permits Litz conductor construction. UL 1333 is rated 150°C at 300 Vac over a narrower 30–10 AWG range with a thinner 13 mils wall. Where the requirement is the full 200°C rating at 600 Vac with the option of gasoline resistance, UL 1330 is the style that carries all three.

The permitted use for UL 1330 is internal wiring of appliances; tags may additionally indicate suitability for immersion in gasoline, gasoline vapour, and 80°C in oil.
