UL 5359 Mica Wire
UL 5359 Mica Wire — 200°C or 450°C · 600V AC · Mica Tape Glass Braid · 30 AWG – 4/0 AWG
UL AWM Style 5359 is a mica tape insulated wire with a glass braid outer covering, rated at 200°C or 450°C and 600V AC under UL Subject 758, Section 5. The insulation uses mica tape wraps with a glass braid treated with silicone varnish or PTFE finish as the outer covering. Both single-conductor and multiple-conductor cabled assemblies are available. An optional nickel or nickel-coated copper shield (36–30 AWG) may be applied.
The permitted use is internal wiring where the wire is not subjected to repeated flexing and is protected from mechanical abuse, and where the acceptability — including current-carrying capacity — has been determined by UL. Typical protected internal wiring contexts include high-temperature industrial ovens, furnaces, and thermal processing equipment. The applicable temperature rating — 200°C or 450°C — is construction-dependent and order-dependent; confirm at enquiry stage. Application suitability is subject to equipment design, routing conditions, mechanical protection, and current-carrying requirements.
