Special Application Cable

Special Application Wire — High-Temperature, Ignition & Equipment Internal Wiring

This category groups the UL Recognized AWM wire styles CableApex supplies for application conditions that go beyond general-purpose internal wiring — sustained high temperature, ignition-class voltage, furnace and kiln environments, thermocouple and sensor signal routing, and equipment internal bonding. These applications are defined by the operating conditions at the wire rather than by a single insulation type, so selection usually starts from the application and works back to the correct UL style.

The sections below map common special-application requirements to the relevant wire constructions. For the full style index see the AWM Wire category; for temperature-class selection see High-Temperature Wire; and for the UL-recognized component overview see UL Certified Cables.

High-Temperature Equipment Internal Wiring

Internal leads inside ovens, dryers, heaters, and thermal processing equipment where the routing temperature exceeds the limit of standard PVC. Silicone rubber styles cover 200°C continuous service — see Silicone Wire — while fluoropolymer styles add chemical resistance at 200–250°C.

Furnace and Kiln Wiring — Extreme Temperature

Where continuous temperatures reach 450°C — industrial furnaces, kilns, and high-temperature process equipment — mica-insulated construction is required. See Mica Fiberglass Wire for single and multi-conductor constructions, with nickel-plated copper recommended for sustained 450°C operation.

Ignition Systems — High Voltage

Electronic ignition leads in gas ranges, ovens, and fuel-oil burner systems require high-voltage silicone constructions rated to 10kV, with higher-voltage DC constructions available for specialised equipment. See High Voltage Ignition Wire for the relevant styles.

Thermocouple and Sensor Signal Routing

Temperature sensor and thermocouple leads routed through heated equipment require insulation rated for the local operating temperature in fine AWG sizes. Fine-gauge silicone and fluoropolymer styles serve sensor wiring up to 200–250°C, and multi-conductor mica cable assemblies consolidate multi-channel measurement circuits for furnace instrumentation.

Equipment Internal Bonding Leads

Internal bonding and grounding jumpers inside high-temperature equipment, where the bonding lead shares the thermal environment of the power and signal wiring, can use the same temperature-rated AWM styles as the equipment’s internal wiring — matched to the circuit’s temperature class rather than specified as a separate cable type.

Request a Quotation

Special-application wire is best quoted against the operating conditions. To receive a quotation, provide: the application and operating environment, the maximum continuous temperature at the wire, the circuit voltage, the conductor size (AWG), the insulation material (or let us recommend one), any shielding requirement, colour, and quantity. Quotations are returned within 24 hours, and mixed-style or mixed-AWG orders are accepted on a single shipment.
