UL 1056 PVC Refrigerating Equipment Wire — 105°C 600V, 20–10 AWG for Internal Wiring

UL AWM Style 1056 single-conductor PVC wire, 105°C, 600 Vac, 20–10 AWG, stranded conductor only, extruded PVC insulation at 60 mil minimum average thickness, Horizontal Flame, for internal wiring of indoor or outdoor refrigerating equipment. Optional 60°C or 80°C oil-rated construction available where included in the qualified construction. Conductor material, colour, and packaging confirmed per order.

UL 1056 Refrigerating Equipment Wire Overview

UL AWM Style 1056 is a single-conductor PVC insulated wire construction, supplied by CableApex as a factory-direct manufacturer, specifically defined for internal wiring of indoor or outdoor refrigerating equipment. The wire is rated 105°C and 600 Vac, using a stranded conductor within the 20 AWG–10 AWG range. This page focuses specifically on the UL 1056 application-defined intent; buyers with broader appliance internal wiring needs outside the refrigerating-equipment use should confirm whether a different Style, such as UL 10269, better fits their application.

20–10 AWG Stranded Conductor Range

UL Style 1056 covers a conductor range of 20 AWG through 10 AWG, and the Style specifies stranded construction only — there is no solid-conductor option under this Style. We do not publish strand count, strand diameter, conductor class, bunching construction, or lay length on this page, as none of these are established by the Style-level record; these details are confirmed according to the ordered specification. Conductor material and finish are likewise not established at the Style level and should be specified when requesting a quotation. Not every AWG within the Style range is necessarily in continuous stock — available sizes are confirmed at the time of quotation.

60-Mil PVC Insulation Construction

The conductor is insulated with extruded PVC at a minimum average thickness of 60 mils and a minimum of 54 mils at any point — a substantial insulation wall relative to many lighter-duty PVC AWM Styles. This page describes the construction, not an inferred performance claim: we do not describe UL 1056 as heavy-duty, extra-tough, mechanically abuse resistant, impact resistant, or crush resistant, as none of these characteristics are established by the Style-level record. We do not calculate or publish a finished outside diameter from the AWG and insulation-wall figures, as conductor diameter and manufacturing tolerances are not part of the confirmed technical basis for this page.

Internal Wiring of Refrigerating Equipment

UL Style 1056 is designated for internal wiring of indoor or outdoor refrigerating equipment. Appropriate application language for this page includes refrigerating equipment internal wiring, internal electrical connections within refrigerating equipment, and protected internal wiring inside indoor or outdoor refrigerating equipment. This page does not expand the use into building wiring, branch circuit wiring, field wiring, refrigeration installation cable, outdoor feeder cable, general power cable, tray cable, or conduit cable, and does not position UL 1056 as a general HVAC wire for air-conditioning field wiring, thermostat cable, building HVAC wiring, or rooftop unit supply cable.

Indoor and Outdoor Equipment — What the UL Use Means

This distinction is important. The UL use statement, “Internal Wiring of Indoor or Outdoor Refrigerating Equipment,” describes the type of refrigerating equipment the internal wire may be used within — it does not mean the wire itself is rated for unrestricted outdoor exposure. This page does not claim that UL 1056 wire is sunlight resistant, weather resistant, UV resistant, suitable for wet-location installation, or suitable for direct burial. The wire remains an internal component wire; when used in outdoor refrigerating equipment, it is the equipment’s own enclosure and design that provide environmental protection, not an inherent weatherproofing property of the wire.

UL 1056 vs General PVC AWM Wire

UL 1056 is a distinct, application-specific UL Style rather than a general-purpose PVC AWM wire. By comparison, our UL 10269 6 AWG PVC Wire covers broader appliance internal wiring at up to 105°C and 1000 Vac / 1250 Vdc across a much wider conductor range, without a refrigerating-equipment-specific use designation. UL 1056, by contrast, is defined specifically for refrigerating equipment internal wiring at 105°C / 600 Vac, 20–10 AWG stranded, with a 60 mil minimum average PVC wall. Neither Style is a universal replacement for the other — UL 1056 should be selected specifically where the equipment specification calls for its defined use and construction.

Send this information and we respond with a quotation within 12 business hours. Production lead time depends on the confirmed construction and order quantity, and shipping options and applicable Incoterms are confirmed during quotation according to destination.

UL Marking and Documentation

Qualifying UL AWM Style 1056 constructions can be supplied through the relevant qualified manufacturing scope for this Style. UL marking and documentation must correspond to the confirmed qualified Style 1056 construction supplied for the order; marking is not identical across every commercial variation and should be confirmed when requesting a quotation. RoHS and REACH are separate regulatory frameworks from UL recognition; applicable RoHS / REACH documentation requirements can be confirmed according to the ordered construction.
