UL 1707 PFA Class 2 Circuit Wire Overview
UL AWM Style 1707 is a single-conductor PFA insulated wire construction, supplied by CableApex as a factory-direct manufacturer, defined specifically for internal wiring of electronic equipment in Class 2 circuits only. The wire is rated 200°C and 30 Vac, with a conductor range of 32 AWG through 20 AWG, solid or stranded round. This page focuses specifically on the Class 2 circuit intent; UL 1707 is not positioned here as a general-purpose high-temperature PFA wire, and buyers with a broader PFA wire need outside the Class 2 electronic-equipment application should confirm whether a different Style, such as UL 10362, better fits their requirement.

30 Vac is the confirmed AC voltage rating for this Style — this page does not convert it to a DC-equivalent figure, and does not describe the product using the broader term “low voltage wire” as its primary positioning. 200°C is the confirmed maximum Style temperature; no lower operating-temperature limit is published, as none is established by the Style-level record.

32–20 AWG Solid or Stranded Construction
UL Style 1707 covers a conductor range of 32 AWG through 20 AWG, solid or stranded round. We do not publish strand count, strand diameter, conductor lay, conductor resistance, or ampacity on this page, as none of these are established by the Style-level record. Conductor material and finish are also not established at the Style level and should be specified when requesting a quotation. Not every AWG within the Style range is necessarily in continuous stock — available sizes are confirmed at the time of quotation.
5-Mil PFA Insulation Construction
The conductor is insulated with extruded PFA at a minimum average thickness of 5 mils and a minimum of 4 mils at any point. Unlike some other AWM Styles that permit multiple fluoropolymer options, Style 1707 specifies PFA specifically — this page does not substitute PTFE, FEP, MFA, or ETFE for PFA. We do not calculate or publish a finished outside diameter from AWG and insulation thickness, as conductor diameter and manufacturing tolerances are not part of the confirmed technical basis for this page. If dimension is critical to your design, please provide your required finished OD or available installation space with your enquiry.
Electronic Equipment Class 2 Circuit Internal Wiring
UL Style 1707 is designated specifically for internal wiring of electronic equipment in Class 2 circuits only. This “Class 2 circuits only” restriction is central to the Style and to this page — appropriate application language includes Class 2 electronic equipment internal wiring, protected internal connections within electronic equipment operating under the applicable Class 2 circuit requirement, and internal wiring where UL Style 1707 is specified. This page does not extend the use into industrial control panel field wiring, building automation field wiring, thermostat field wiring, security-system installation cable, alarm cable, data cable, communication cable, or network cable, and does not present this as a general building wire, branch circuit wire, cable tray wire, conduit wire, field installation cable, or direct burial cable — UL 1707 is an internal-wiring AWM product, distinct from field-installed wiring.
Why UL 1707 Is Not a General-Purpose PFA Wire
UL 1707’s value is the specific combination it represents — 200°C, 30 Vac, 32–20 AWG, PFA insulation, and Class 2 electronic-equipment internal wiring only — not simply its use of PFA or its 200°C rating on their own. This page does not position UL 1707 as a broad high-temperature PFA wire, and does not claim suitability for any low-voltage circuit, mains circuits, general appliance wiring, general control wiring, or power circuits. It serves a narrow, UL-defined electronic-equipment wiring requirement, and should be selected specifically where that Class 2 circuit boundary applies to your application.
UL 1707 vs Other Electronic Equipment AWM Styles
CableApex offers several fluoropolymer AWM Styles for different electronic-equipment wiring needs. Our UL 1538 Back Panel Wire is rated 105°C / 125 Vac, with FEP, PFA, or PTFE insulation options, for use in back panel areas of electronic equipment where the wire is not subjected to movement or mechanical damage — a different application boundary from UL 1707’s Class 2 circuit restriction. Our UL 10362 PFA Wire is a separate high-temperature PFA Style with its own voltage and use envelope for general internal wiring, distinct from the Class 2 circuit-specific positioning of UL 1707. Choose the Style whose confirmed use boundary and rating match your actual application rather than substituting between them.

What to Specify When Ordering UL 1707 Wire
To provide an accurate quotation for UL 1707 PFA Class 2 circuit wire, please specify:
- Required AWG within the 32–20 AWG range
- Solid or stranded conductor
- Conductor material or plating requirement, if specified
- Required operating temperature
- Circuit voltage
- Confirmation that the application is a Class 2 electronic-equipment internal circuit
- Required finished OD, if dimensionally constrained
- Insulation colour
- Order quantity
- Packaging requirement
- UL marking requirement, if applicable
- Documentation requirements, including RoHS / REACH if needed
- Electronic equipment type
- Shipping destination
Because UL Style 1707 is limited to Class 2 circuits only, please confirm the intended circuit and application when requesting a quotation so the correct qualified construction can be supplied. Send this information and we respond with a quotation within 12 business hours. Production lead time depends on the confirmed construction and order quantity, and shipping options and applicable Incoterms are confirmed during quotation according to destination.
UL Marking and Documentation
Qualifying UL AWM Style 1707 constructions can be supplied through the relevant qualified manufacturing scope for this Style. UL marking and documentation are confirmed according to the qualified Style 1707 construction supplied for the order and are not identical across every commercial variation. RoHS and REACH are separate regulatory frameworks from UL recognition; applicable RoHS / REACH documentation requirements can be confirmed according to the ordered construction.
