UL 1659 PTFE Wire
UL 1659 PTFE Wire (250°C / 600V) for High Temperature Internal Wiring
UL 1659 wire is a PTFE insulated AWM wire used for internal wiring applications where high temperature performance is a primary requirement. With a 250°C temperature rating and 600V profile, UL1659 is commonly reviewed for equipment sections that operate under more severe thermal conditions than standard internal wire can reasonably support.
Compared with general internal hook-up wire, UL1659 is more suitable for projects where the internal environment is hotter, the material requirement is more demanding, or the buyer specifically prefers a PTFE-based wire construction for long-term performance. It is often considered for thermal equipment, high temperature internal lead routing, and specialized OEM electrical assemblies.
Buyers often choose UL1659 when the application needs a fluoroplastic internal wire with a stronger thermal margin than FEP or standard PVC constructions. It is particularly useful in equipment where the internal lead remains fixed and protected but must continue performing in a hotter operating zone.
When sourcing UL1659 wire, buyers usually confirm conductor size, conductor finish, insulation color, package format, and the actual internal application. For OEM projects, it is also common to review operating temperature, routing condition, and order quantity before quotation.
If the project requires PFA or FEP insulated wire instead, UL10362 or UL1332 may be more appropriate depending on the environment. UL1659 is more suitable when the buyer specifically wants a PTFE insulated 250°C / 600V internal wire for high temperature use.
