Mica Tape Wire
Mica tape AWM wire uses wrapped mica tape as the primary insulation material — a mineral-based insulation that provides temperature ratings of 200°C to 450°C, far exceeding any polymer insulation system. Mica is a crystalline silicate mineral that maintains its solid, electrically insulating form at temperatures that would destroy silicone rubber, PTFE, and all other organic insulation materials, making mica tape wire the only standard AWM wire specification for internal wiring in industrial furnaces, high temperature ovens, kilns, and thermal processing equipment operating continuously above 200°C.
CableApex produces mica tape AWM wire under UL Follow-Up Service File No. E333030, covering seven styles across two temperature classes — 200°C (UL 5359, UL 5360) and 450°C (UL 5107, UL 5128, UL 5334, UL 5335, UL 5476) — and two voltage ratings (300V and 600V). All styles comply with RoHS and REACH.
| UL Style | Voltage | Temperature | Primary application |
|---|---|---|---|
| UL 5359 | 600V AC | 200°C | Multi-conductor mica wire — heating element groups |
| UL 5360 | 300V AC | 200°C | Single conductor mica wire — compact heating applications |
| UL 5107 | 600V AC | 450°C | High temperature mica glass wire — industrial furnaces |
| UL 5128 | 300V AC | 450°C | Mica glass braid — oven and kiln internal wiring |
| UL 5334 | 600V AC | 450°C | Mica fiberglass — extreme heat equipment wiring |
| UL 5335 | 600V AC | 450°C | Mica glass braid — furnace heating circuit connections |
| UL 5476 | 600V AC | 450°C | Mica tape — industrial thermal equipment internal leads |
