UL 3271 XLPE Wire
UL 3271 is a cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated wire rated 90°C and 600V AC under UL AWM Style 3271, produced under UL Follow-Up Service File No. E333030. UL 3271 is the standard motor lead wire specification for LV induction motors — the most widely specified XLPE AWM style for the terminal box connection lead from the motor terminal block to the first cable joint or conduit entry outside the motor body, where the wire must withstand both the 600V circuit voltage and the elevated ambient temperature inside the motor terminal enclosure.
The 90°C rating of UL 3271 covers standard Class B (130°C winding temperature) motor terminal box ambient conditions in normally ventilated industrial environments. UL 3271 is also available with an optional semi-conductive inner layer for medium voltage motor lead and high-voltage internal wiring applications where partial discharge at the conductor surface must be suppressed. For motor leads in high-ambient-temperature environments exceeding 90°C at the terminal box, see UL 3266 (125°C). Available in 30 AWG to 2000 kcmil, RoHS and REACH compliant.
