UL 5335 Mica Glass Braid Wire for Vietnam and Indonesia — 450°C 600V AWM

UL AWM Style 5335 mica and glass braid wire for B2B procurement in Vietnam and Indonesia. The Style covers a single or multiple conductor construction with non-extruded insulation, rated 450°C and 600 Vac with Horizontal Flame, across a conductor range of 22 AWG–4/0 AWG, solid or stranded in sizes 22–8 AWG and stranded only above 8 AWG.

Insulation is mica with glass braid treated with silicone varnish or TFE finish, with minimum average thickness requirements that change by conductor size group. Two or more conductors may be cabled together under an optional assembly provision with a maximum O.D. of 1.500 inches. The official Use is internal wiring where protected from mechanical abuse.

Buyers can confirm AWG, conductor count, ordered construction, conductor and plating requirements where controlled by drawing, maximum OD if controlled, documentation, quantity, destination and Incoterm for a construction-specific quotation.

UL 5335 Mica Glass Braid Wire for Vietnam and Indonesia

This is the regional sourcing page for UL AWM Style 5335 mica and glass braid wire for buyers in Vietnam and Indonesia. It is written for equipment OEM buyers, sourcing teams, maintenance departments and distributors whose drawing, BOM or equipment specification calls for Style 5335.

The Style record describes Style 5335 as a single or multiple conductor construction with non-extruded insulation, rated 450°C and 600 Vac, with a Horizontal Flame designation. The conductor range is 22 AWG–4/0 AWG with form limits that differ by size, the insulation is mica with glass braid treated with silicone varnish or TFE finish, and thickness requirements change across conductor-size groups.

What the Style defines is a construction, not a complete purchase specification. The final ordered construction is confirmed against the customer’s drawing, BOM, equipment specification and required marking. This page sets out what is fixed by the Style, what remains open, and what a buyer needs to state for a quotation to be prepared.

Nine points to clarify about the tables above:

  1. Both figures in each row are minimum average thickness values. The record states no minimum-at-any-point value for this Style.
  2. The mica groups and the glass braid groups do not share the same boundaries. Mica is grouped 22–12, 11–4 and 2–4/0 AWG, while the treated braid is grouped 22–12, 11–4 and 3–4/0 AWG.
  3. Because of that difference, 3 AWG falls outside every mica group in the record. For a 3 AWG requirement, the applicable qualified construction must be confirmed rather than assigned to a neighbouring group.
  4. The conductor range is 22 AWG–4/0 AWG, and the conductor form limits differ by size.
  5. The Style covers a single or multiple conductor construction, and the cabled assembly is an optional provision.
  6. 1.500 inches is the maximum O.D. under that assembly provision, not the outer diameter of a single conductor.
  7. The optional nickel, nickel coated copper, nickel-chromium-iron or stainless steel 304 item appears in the shield position of the record. It is not the conductor specification.
  8. Conductor material, plating, strand count, strand diameter and lay length are not defined by the Style.
  9. Finished OD, OD tolerance, conductor resistance, bend radius, flex life and ampacity are not defined by the Style.

450°C and 600 Vac

The Style rating is 450°C, stated without a duty or service-duration qualifier. This page does not describe it as continuous, sustained or continuous-duty, and derives no service life, thermal cycling count or thermal margin from it.

A 450°C rating is also not a fire-survival property. The flame designation in the record is Horizontal Flame, and fire-resistant, fireproof, circuit integrity and similar descriptions are not claimed here, nor are VW-1, FT1 or vertical flame designations.

The voltage rating is 600 Vac. It is not written as 600 Vdc or as a combined AC/DC rating, and it does not by itself establish that the wire belongs in any particular circuit. The circuit function comes from the equipment design and the customer’s approved specification.

Mica with Glass Braid: Thickness by Conductor Size

The insulation is one construction: mica with glass braid, the braid treated with silicone varnish or TFE finish. Both elements belong to the definition, and the treatment is a braid finish rather than the primary insulation identity.

The mica requirement rises with conductor size, from 23 mils minimum average for 22–12 AWG, to 27 mils for 11–4 AWG, to 32 mils for 2–4/0 AWG. The treated braid requirement rises from 5 mils to 10 mils to 15 mils across its own groups. Note the proportion: on the smaller sizes the mica requirement is several times the braid requirement, so the braid is a comparatively thin outer layer over a substantially thicker mica build.

The two sets of groups are not aligned, and 3 AWG sits in the resulting gap on the mica side. A specification that quietly rounds 3 AWG into the 11–4 or the 2–4/0 mica group has supplied a value the record does not give. For that size the applicable construction is confirmed with the supplier before the requirement is fixed.

Conductor Range, Form Limits and Material

The Style range is 22 AWG–4/0 AWG. Sizes 22–8 AWG may be solid or stranded, and sizes larger than 8 AWG through 4/0 AWG are stranded only. A listing that describes the whole Style as stranded, or that omits the range entirely, understates both facts.

The Style does not define the conductor material or finish. Copper, bare copper, tinned copper, nickel-plated copper and silver-plated copper are constructions a buyer may specify, not properties this page can assert. The optional item in the shield position of the record, which lists Type “A” Nickel, nickel coated copper, nickel-chromium-iron and stainless steel 304 options, describes that optional element and is not a conductor material recommendation at 450°C or at any other temperature.

Strand count, strand diameter, lay construction, stranding classes and flexibility grades are likewise absent from the record and are treated as RFQ fields. Style scope is also not inventory: not every size or configuration is regularly produced or held, and availability is confirmed per enquiry.

Single or Multiple Conductor and the Optional Cabled Assembly

The Product Description covers a single or multiple conductor construction. Under the optional assembly provision, two or more conductors described by the Style may be cabled together within a maximum O.D. of 1.500 inches, a mica glass binder and/or fiberglass fillers may be employed, and the assembly has an overall treated glass braid.

To quote such an assembly, the buyer defines the number of conductors, the size of each, the maximum overall OD where controlled, colour or conductor identification requirements, and whether a binder or fillers are required. Whether a grouped assembly suits a given installation is an equipment-design question. This page makes no claim that an assembly reduces penetrations, installation time or maintenance effort, and it does not present single-conductor and multi-conductor constructions as substitutes for one another.

Official Use: Internal Wiring Where Protected from Mechanical Abuse

The official Use is “Internal Wiring where protected from mechanical abuse.” Two things follow.

First, protection from mechanical abuse is a condition of the Use, and it is satisfied by the equipment design, not by the wire’s own covering. The record states that the construction includes a glass braid; it does not state that the braid provides mechanical protection, abrasion resistance, compression resistance or protection at conduit entries and routing clips. This page therefore does not attribute those functions to the braid, and it does not present the braid as removing the protection requirement. Style 5335 is not offered for unprotected exposed routing, abrasive locations, external field cable or portable cable.

Second, the Use is internal wiring. It is not extended to building or field wiring, external equipment wiring, power distribution or facility wiring. Buyer contexts may include internal wiring in thermal equipment such as ovens, furnaces, dryers, kilns or heated presses, but those are the buyer’s own equipment contexts rather than UL-approved uses, and the official Use remains internal wiring where protected from mechanical abuse. Compliance of a finished appliance or machine is established at the equipment level and is not conferred by the Style designation of one internal wire.

Although this Style’s Use sentence does not contain a current-carrying clause, the record gives no ampacity, and none is published or inferred here from conductor size, the 450°C rating or the 600 Vac rating.

Dimensions, Resistance and Bending

The Style publishes minimum average thicknesses and one maximum O.D. for the cabled assembly provision. It does not publish a finished outer diameter for any individual size, an OD tolerance, a conductor resistance, a minimum bend radius or a flex rating.

Finished dimensions depend on the actual conductor construction, how the mica is applied, the braid construction, the number of conductors and fillers in an assembly, and manufacturing dimensions. Calculating an OD from a generic conductor diameter plus the minimum thicknesses does not produce a valid product dimension. Where clearance, resistance or bending is controlled, the buyer states the limit and the proposed construction is checked against it.

How to Specify UL 5335 for a Regional RFQ

A complete Style 5335 enquiry combines the Style requirement with the parameters the Style leaves open: AWG, conductor count, solid or stranded where a choice exists, conductor material and plating where the drawing controls them, colour or identification, maximum OD where controlled, the internal wiring location and how the wire is protected there, documentation, quantity, packaging and destination. A multiple-conductor assembly is confirmed from the drawing or BOM rather than assumed.

Vietnam and Indonesia Procurement Context

Vietnam and Indonesia are the commercial setting for this page: buyer locations, OEM sourcing markets, maintenance procurement markets, component distribution markets and shipment destinations. Equipment OEMs, sourcing teams, maintenance departments and distributors in both markets may look for Style 5335 when their drawings or BOMs call for a 450°C, 600 Vac mica and glass braid AWM wire, and in each case the final style selection comes from that drawing, BOM or engineering specification.

CableApex acts as the international sales and communication party, coordinating RFQ communication, export documentation review and order confirmation. No regional usage practices, end-user industries or named facilities are claimed for either market, and destination city or port, Incoterm, packaging and quantity are handled per enquiry rather than published as fixed terms.

What Style 5335 Does and Does Not Define

Style 5335 defines:

  • 450°C temperature rating and 600 Vac voltage rating
  • Horizontal Flame
  • a single or multiple conductor construction with non-extruded insulation
  • conductor range 22 AWG–4/0 AWG, solid or stranded in 22–8 AWG and stranded only above 8 AWG
  • mica with glass braid treated with silicone varnish or TFE finish
  • minimum average mica thickness of 23, 27 and 32 mils by size group
  • minimum average treated glass braid thickness of 5, 10 and 15 mils by size group
  • an optional cabled assembly to a maximum O.D. of 1.500 inches, with optional binder and fillers and an overall treated glass braid
  • an optional item in the shield position
  • Marking: General
  • Use: Internal Wiring where protected from mechanical abuse.

Style 5335 does not universally define:

  • conductor material, plating, strand count, strand diameter or lay length
  • a mica thickness for 3 AWG
  • finished OD of an individual conductor, OD tolerance, bend radius, flex cycles or flex class
  • conductor resistance, ampacity or current rating
  • metric cross-section for any size
  • a mechanical protection function for the glass braid
  • circuit function, heating-element, bus-wiring or equipment-specific suitability
  • equivalence with or substitution for any other mica Style
  • colour or identification, reel length, MOQ, stock, lead time, production capacity or shipping term

Common Procurement Errors

  • Writing “450°C continuous” or adding any duty qualifier to the rating.
  • Treating the 450°C rating as fire-survival or fire-resistant performance.
  • Assuming the conductor is nickel-plated or bare copper.
  • Reading the optional shield-position item as the conductor specification.
  • Describing the whole Style as stranded, or omitting the 22 AWG–4/0 AWG range.
  • Assigning 3 AWG to a neighbouring mica group instead of confirming the applicable construction.
  • Applying one size group’s mica or braid value across the whole range.
  • Quoting a minimum-at-any-point value the record does not contain.
  • Borrowing thickness groups or Use wording from another mica Style.
  • Treating the glass braid as the mechanical protection required by the Use.
  • Treating 1.500 inches as the OD of a single conductor.
  • Publishing generic mm² cross-sections, resistance values or ampacity by AWG.
  • Presenting the wire as heating-element lead wire, furnace bus wire or oven cable as an approved use.
  • Substituting one mica Style for another because the temperature and voltage ratings match.
