UL 1007 32 AWG Stranded Wire for Germany Procurement
This page covers UL AWM Style 1007 in 32 AWG with a stranded conductor, for buyers in Germany. It is written for appliance and electronics OEM procurement teams, engineering buyers and distributors whose drawing, BOM or existing wire specification calls for 32 AWG Style 1007 in stranded form.
Style 1007 is a single conductor with extruded PVC insulation, rated 80°C and 300 Vac with a Horizontal Flame designation, and an optional 60°C or 80°C Oil rating. The Style conductor range is 32 AWG–16 AWG, and the Style permits solid or stranded conductors. 32 AWG is the smallest size in that range, and stranded is the buyer-facing requirement this page serves rather than a Style restriction. The official Use is “Internal wiring of appliances.”
At this conductor size the gap between what the Style fixes and what an order has to state is at its widest, because strand construction, finished dimension and handling all matter to the assembly and none of them are set by the Style. This page separates the two.

Nine points to clarify about the table above:
- 32 AWG is the smallest conductor size listed in the Style range and is this page’s procurement focus.
- Stranded is the requirement this page addresses. Style 1007 also permits solid conductors, so “stranded” comes from the buyer’s specification rather than from the Style.
- Strand count, strand diameter, lay construction, conductor material and plating are not defined by the Style and are confirmed for the ordered construction.
- 15 mil minimum average and 13 mil minimum at any point are two independent requirements. The 15 mil figure corresponds to roughly 0.38 mm as a metric reference only, and is not a guaranteed finished wall.
- The insulation requirement is the same at 32 AWG as across the rest of the Style range.
- The Oil rating is optional, and a 60°C or 80°C requirement must be stated by the buyer.
- The normal voltage rating is 300 Vac. The record gives no DC rating.
- 600 V Peak – For Electronic Use Only is an optional tag indication, not the normal working-voltage rating.
- Finished OD, OD tolerance, conductor resistance, metric cross-section and ampacity are not defined by the Style, and the Style range is not a stock list.
32 AWG at the Lower Limit of the Style
32 AWG sits at the bottom of the Style 1007 range, which means a 32 AWG construction can be qualified under the Style. It does not mean every manufacturer working under Style 1007 produces 32 AWG, that a stranded 32 AWG construction is held, or that it is quoted on the same terms as mid-range sizes. Availability of the exact construction is confirmed per enquiry.
The Style states conductor size by AWG only. It gives no metric cross-section, conductor diameter or conductor resistance, so where a German drawing controls a mm² value or a maximum resistance, that figure is a buyer requirement checked against the proposed construction rather than read from a generic AWG conversion table.
A small conductor size also assigns no circuit function. The Style does not classify 32 AWG as signal, sensor, measurement or data wire, gives no ampacity, and none is inferred here from the size or the ratings. Current-carrying capacity is evaluated through the buyer’s equipment design and the applicable approval process.
Stranded at 32 AWG: What the RFQ Has to Fix
Stating “stranded” fixes the conductor form and nothing more. At 32 AWG the construction details behind that word have a direct effect on the assembly, and each of them is an RFQ field rather than a Style value:
- strand count and individual strand diameter
- lay construction
- conductor material
- plating or surface finish
- maximum conductor resistance, where controlled
Where an existing German specification names a particular strand build, material or finish, include it in the enquiry so the proposed construction can be compared against it directly. No strand fineness, flexibility grade or stranding class is claimed here, because the Style record contains none, and a description such as “stranded tinned copper” belongs to a specific product datasheet rather than to Style 1007 generally.

Insulation and Finished Dimensions
The insulation is extruded PVC. The wall must meet both an average thickness of at least 15 mils and a thickness of at least 13 mils at every point around the conductor. These are floor values, not a nominal wall, and the second is not a tolerance on the first.
At 32 AWG the wall is a large share of the finished diameter, which makes the next point practical rather than academic: minimum wall values do not produce a finished OD. Actual OD depends on the actual strand construction and conductor diameter, the conductor material, the PVC extrusion and manufacturing tolerance. Where connector entry, routing clearance or an automated handling process controls the dimension, state a maximum finished OD and an OD tolerance in the RFQ so the proposed construction can be checked against it.
“Extruded PVC” also does not mean lead-free, halogen-free or LSZH material. PVC contains chlorine, and a halogen-free requirement is a different material specification rather than an option on this Style.
Ratings, the Optional Oil Rating and the Peak Tag
The temperature rating is 80°C, stated without a duty qualifier, and no service life or thermal margin is derived from it here.
The normal voltage rating is 300 Vac, and Style 1007 is not described as a 600 V wire. Tags may indicate “600 V Peak – For Electronic Use Only”; both qualifiers stay attached whenever that tag is cited, and it is not a working-voltage rating. The optional 60°C or 80°C Oil rating applies only where specified and confirmed, and its temperature is separate from the 80°C Style rating. The flame designation is Horizontal Flame; VW-1, FT1 and vertical flame designations are not part of this record.
Official Use: Internal Wiring of Appliances
The official Use is “Internal wiring of appliances.” This page keeps that wording and does not extend it to building or field wiring, conduit or tray installations, branch circuits, external equipment wiring, automotive, medical or telecom wiring, or general power distribution.
German enquiries at this gauge often come from contexts such as compact appliance control assemblies, internal board-to-board links or small internal harnesses. Those are buyer enquiry contexts that can be reviewed against the drawing, and they do not change the Use. Compliance of a finished appliance or assembly is established at the equipment level and is not conferred by the Style designation of one internal wire.
How to Specify UL 1007 32 AWG Stranded for a Germany RFQ
A Style designation is a construction requirement, not a complete purchase specification. A complete enquiry adds:
- the UL AWM Style 1007 requirement and the 32 AWG size
- the stranded conductor requirement
- strand count and strand diameter, where controlled
- conductor material and plating, where controlled by the drawing
- the 80°C and 300 Vac requirements
- whether an optional 60°C or 80°C Oil rating is required, and which
- insulation colour and any colour coding requirement
- the marking requirement
- maximum OD and OD tolerance, where controlled
- maximum conductor resistance or a controlled mm² cross-section, where applicable
- the appliance internal wiring location
- the drawing, BOM or equipment specification
- documentation requirements, quantity and packaging preference
- the German destination and the requested Incoterm
Packaging deserves a line of its own at this gauge. Reel or spool configuration, put-up length and winding tension affect handling of fine wire, so any requirement in that area should be stated rather than assumed.

Germany Procurement Context
Germany is the destination and procurement context for this page. German buyers may search for Style 1007 in 32 AWG when a drawing or BOM requires an 80°C, 300 Vac AWM internal appliance wiring construction in a fine stranded conductor, whether for a series build, a prototype programme or a replacement part, and any German city or port can be named as the destination in an enquiry.
CableApex is an international sales, export and customer communication company and coordinates RFQ communication, export documentation review and order confirmation. No German market demand, industry usage, customer or project is claimed here, and no conclusion is drawn about EU or German conformity, material regulation or import requirements. Where such requirements apply, the buyer should state them so the applicable documents can be reviewed for the ordered construction. Incoterm, packaging, colour and quantity are handled per enquiry rather than published as fixed terms.
What Style 1007 Does and Does Not Define
Style 1007 defines:
- 80°C temperature rating and 300 Vac normal voltage rating
- Horizontal Flame
- optional 60°C or 80°C Oil
- conductor range 32 AWG–16 AWG, solid or stranded
- extruded PVC, 15 mil minimum average / 13 mil minimum at any point
- Marking: General
- Use: Internal wiring of appliances.
- optional tag: 600 V Peak – For Electronic Use Only
Style 1007 does not universally define:
- conductor material, plating, strand count, strand diameter or lay length
- a stranding class, flexibility grade or flex life
- finished OD, OD tolerance or bend radius
- conductor resistance, ampacity, current rating or metric cross-section
- a DC voltage rating
- halogen-free or LSZH material properties
- signal, sensor, data or measurement circuit suitability
- colour, reel length, MOQ, stock, lead time, production capacity or shipping term
Common Procurement Errors
- Assuming 32 AWG Style 1007 is stocked in every construction and colour.
- Treating stranded as a Style requirement, or assuming a particular strand count without stating one.
- Assuming the conductor is tinned copper, or claiming a stranding class or flexibility grade.
- Describing Style 1007 as a 600 V wire, or dropping “Peak” or “For Electronic Use Only” from the optional tag.
- Writing “80°C continuous”.
- Treating the optional Oil rating as standard.
- Omitting the 13 mil minimum-at-any-point requirement, or treating 15 mil as a nominal wall.
- Deriving a finished OD from the minimum wall values.
- Using a generic AWG-to-mm² conversion or a generic resistance table as a product specification.
- Deriving ampacity from conductor size or the ratings.
- Calling 32 AWG a signal or sensor wire on the basis of its size.
- Describing PVC insulation as halogen-free or LSZH.
- Leaving strand construction, colour, marking or OD out of the order documents.
