What the Gasoline Tag Options Cover

Most appliance wiring styles carry an oil-resistance option and nothing further. UL 1330 goes beyond that: the style permits the tag to indicate suitability for immersion in gasoline, for exposure to gasoline vapour, and for 80°C service in oil — three distinct markings that can be specified individually or together at time of order. Applications

Within its permitted use — internal wiring of appliances — UL 1330 18 AWG suits internal conductors in fuel-fired and oil-containing appliances where the wire may be exposed to gasoline, gasoline vapour or hot oil, and general appliance internal wiring in high-temperature zones approaching 200°C where PVC and lower-rated fluoropolymer styles are unsuitable. The optional glass braid covering adds abrasion resistance where the conductor is pulled through tight passages or contacts sheet-metal edges during assembly. Specify the gasoline and oil tag options at time of order, as they are not standard on all product. For applications outside internal appliance wiring, confirm application suitability before specifying.
