Extreme Temperature Resistant Cable for Industrial Machinery

Extreme temperature resistant cable is a multi-core cable engineered for the power supply and control wiring of industrial machinery operating in sustained extreme temperature environments — equipment that generates, applies, or operates within heat at levels that eliminate standard PVC or XLPE-sheathed cable from consideration. This cable combines high-temperature insulation technology with a robust multi-core cable construction, providing a single cable solution for installations where both power supply cores and control signal cores must route through the same extreme-temperature environment.

The cable range covers two primary insulation systems depending on the operating temperature: silicone rubber insulation (UL AWM Style 3135, rated 200°C) for machinery operating in the 100°C to 200°C range, and mica tape insulation (UL AWM Styles 5107 and 5128) for the most demanding applications approaching 450°C where silicone rubber reaches its practical limits. Both systems are produced under UL Follow-Up Service File No. E333030.

Key Features

  • Two insulation systems in one range — silicone rubber to 200°C, mica tape to 450°C; select based on machinery operating temperature
  • Multi-core construction — power and control cores in a single cable reduces gland penetrations and cable management complexity
  • UL AWM 3135, 5107, 5128 recognised — File No. E333030
  • 2 to 6 cores, 0.5–50 mm² — covers light control through heavy motor power supply
  • Silicone version remains flexible at –60°C — also suitable for cold-side connections on cold chain and cryogenic-adjacent equipment
  • Mica tape version maintains insulation integrity above rated temperature — fail-safe performance in thermal overload

Common Applications

Furnace ancillary equipment

Industrial furnaces require not only internal element wiring (covered by ID 16 single conductor furnace wire) but also external cable connections to the furnace body — power feeds to motorised door drives, atmosphere gas valve actuators, cooling fans, and conveyor drives integrated with the furnace. These connections must withstand the high-temperature exterior surface of the furnace enclosure while providing multi-core power and control in a single robust cable.

High-temperature conveyor systems

Continuous conveyor systems passing products through heated zones — painting lines, drying tunnels, food sterilisation tunnels, and PCB reflow conveyors — require power and control cable for the conveyor drive motors, zone temperature sensors, and safety interlocks that must route through or alongside the heated enclosure structure at temperatures of 150°C to 300°C.

Industrial heating press and moulding equipment

Compression moulding presses, rubber vulcanisation equipment, and hot press machinery require power cable to the heated platen elements and control cable to the temperature sensors and cycle timers, routed through the press frame where ambient temperature continuously exceeds 150°C.

Other applications

  • Glass tempering furnace ancillary equipment wiring
  • Induction heating system power and control leads
  • Autoclave and sterilisation equipment external power connections
  • Petrochemical plant process heater control wiring
