This page covers UL AWM Style 3573 supplied for protected ignition circuit applications — the ignition lead running from an ignition module or transformer to the spark electrode, routed entirely within the appliance or burner enclosure. UL Style 3573 is an insulated wire rated 200°C and 10,000 Vac, covering 22 AWG through 12 AWG in solid or stranded round construction, built as silicone inner insulation, a fiberglass braid or serve intermediate layer, and silicone outer insulation applied over the braid.
The defining feature of this Style is that the braid is enclosed rather than exposed: silicone sits on both sides of it. That is the structural point of difference from UL 3304 at the same voltage and temperature rating, and it is often what determines which of the two an appliance design specifies. 22–12 AWG Order Options
The UL Style range is 22 AWG through 12 AWG, in solid or stranded round construction. Both conductor forms are within the Style scope. AWG sizes outside this range are not covered by UL Style 3573 and cannot be supplied under this Style designation.
The Style file fixes the three insulation thicknesses but does not define a conductor material, plating or strand count. Those are settled at order stage, along with insulation colour, detailed stranding, finished dimensions, reel length and packaging format. Where a requested combination has not previously been produced, confirm feasibility during enquiry rather than assuming availability from the Style scope alone.

Protected Ignition Circuit Applications
The UL Style file states the use as electronic ignition or similar application in gas ranges or gas or fuel oil burner systems, where the wire is protected from damage during handling, installation and servicing of the appliance.
In practice this covers the high-voltage lead between the ignition source and the spark electrode in three equipment contexts:
- Gas ranges and cooktops — the internal lead from the electronic ignition module to the spark electrode at the burner, routed within the appliance enclosure.
- Gas burner systems — the ignition lead routed within the burner assembly housing from the ignition source to the electrode position.
- Fuel oil burner systems — the lead from the ignition transformer to the spark electrodes inside the burner enclosure.
The protection condition in the Style file applies across three phases and should be checked against the appliance design at each: handling of the wire before installation, installation into the appliance, and any subsequent servicing where the wire may be disturbed. Service access arrangements matter here — a lead that is protected in the assembled appliance but exposed whenever a service panel is removed does not meet the condition. The Style rating alone does not establish suitability for a given installation.

UL 3573 and UL 3304 Construction Difference
Both Styles are rated 200°C and 10,000 Vac across 22–12 AWG. The difference is in the layer arrangement.
UL 3573 has SR silicone inner insulation at 30 mils minimum average, a fiberglass braid or serve over it, and SR silicone outer insulation over the braid at 10 mils minimum at any point. UL 3304 has SR silicone insulation at 40 mils minimum average with a fiberglass braid covering, and no silicone outer insulation listed over the braid — the braid is the outermost layer.
So the two differ in where the braid sits and in the thickness of the silicone beneath it. Which construction is appropriate depends on the equipment design and whether an outer silicone layer over the braid is specified for the application. Neither Style is a substitute for the other on the basis of the shared voltage and temperature rating alone.

UL Marking and Order Documentation
The construction actually produced, the UL marking applied and the documents accompanying a shipment must be confirmed within the applicable certified scope before production. Only products bearing the applicable UL Mark should be represented as covered products.
Where UL, RoHS, REACH or other compliance documents are required, specify them during enquiry so availability can be confirmed for the ordered construction. Minimum order quantity, sample availability, packaging format, delivery schedule and marking are confirmed in the quotation rather than fixed in advance.
