UL 1911 High Voltage Ignition Wire Overview

UL Style 1911 Maximum Rating Envelope

UL Style 1911 defines a maximum temperature rating of 250°C. This is the Style’s upper temperature envelope — it is not a statement that every qualified Style 1911 construction operates at exactly 250°C. The applicable temperature rating for a specific order corresponds to the qualified construction selected and should be confirmed during quotation.
Up to 50,000 Vdc High-Voltage Rating
UL Style 1911 defines a maximum voltage rating of 50,000 Vdc. This rating is expressed in DC, not AC — Style 1911 is a DC high-voltage construction, and this page does not convert or approximate it into an AC-equivalent figure. As with temperature, 50,000 Vdc is the Style’s maximum envelope; the specific voltage rating of a given qualified construction should be confirmed during quotation.
24–10 AWG Solid or Stranded Construction
UL Style 1911 covers a conductor range of 24 AWG through 10 AWG, supplied solid or stranded round. We do not publish strand count, strand diameter, metric conductor equivalents, conductor resistance, or current-carrying capacity on this page, as none of these are established by the Style-level record. Not every AWG and rating combination within the Style envelope is automatically available as a standard offering — the specific combination required for your application should be confirmed during quotation. Conductor material and finish are likewise not established by the Style record and are confirmed according to the ordered construction.
Insulation System and Individual Qualified Ratings
This is an important technical distinction for UL Style 1911. The UL record for this Style does not specify one universal insulation material — it states that the insulation may be of any material, with individual construction details found on a separate reference page not included in the technical basis available to us. For this reason, this page does not describe UL 1911 as a silicone, PTFE, FEP, PFA, or PVC insulated wire, and does not publish an insulation wall thickness, because no single material or thickness is established at the Style level. The insulation system and the individual temperature/voltage rating that applies to a specific wire must correspond to the qualified Style 1911 construction selected for the order, and should be confirmed and specified during quotation.
Electronic Gas Ignitor Internal Wiring
UL Style 1911 is designated for internal wiring of electronic gas ignitor systems. This is the application boundary for the product supplied from this page: internal high-voltage connections between the appropriate components of an electronic gas ignition system, in a protected internal wiring role. This page does not extend the product to X-ray equipment, laser power supplies, CRT equipment, electrostatic equipment, EV or battery systems, solar systems, transformers, general high-voltage power supplies, neon signage, industrial control cabinets, building wiring, or field wiring. The selected Style 1911 construction must match the actual circuit voltage and temperature of the ignition system it is used with; final equipment acceptability and installation requirements are determined by the equipment design and applicable certification requirements, and this page does not provide guidance on bypassing ignition-system safety controls.

UL 1911 vs 10kV Ignition Wire
CableApex also offers 10,000 Vac silicone ignition-wire constructions, such as UL 3304 and UL 3573, which are separate UL Styles with their own construction and rating systems — not lower-spec versions of UL 1911, and UL 1911 is not simply a “better UL 3304.” UL 3304 is rated 200°C and 10,000 Vac with a silicone rubber and fiberglass braid construction for gas range and burner ignition internal wiring. UL 3573 carries a similar 200°C / 10,000 Vac rating with its own defined silicone-and-fiberglass-braid construction. UL 1911, by contrast, is a high-voltage wire Style rated up to 250°C and up to 50,000 Vdc — a DC rating an order of magnitude higher than the AC ratings of those Styles — for internal wiring of electronic gas ignitor systems specifically, with its insulation system confirmed per qualified construction rather than fixed at the Style level. Choose based on your actual circuit voltage, AC/DC requirement, and application, rather than assuming one Style supersedes another.
