UL 1332 18 AWG FEP Wire Overview

UL AWM Style 1332 is a single-conductor construction with covering, supplied by CableApex as a factory-direct manufacturer. This page focuses specifically on the 18 AWG configuration within Style 1332’s broader 30 AWG–10 AWG conductor range. The wire is rated 200°C and 300 Vac, with extruded FEP insulation. This is a dedicated 18 AWG procurement page, distinct from our other UL 1332 gauge-specific pages and from our broader UL 1332 appliance-wiring content.

18 AWG Solid or Stranded Round Conductor Options

UL Style 1332 covers a conductor range of 30 AWG through 10 AWG, solid or stranded round; this page focuses specifically on the 18 AWG configuration. We do not publish strand count, strand diameter, conductor resistance, finished OD, or ampacity for 18 AWG or any AWG within this Style, as none of these are established by the Style-level record. Conductor material and finish are also not established at the Style level — this page does not describe UL 1332 as tinned copper, oxygen-free copper, or any specific plating or purity, and conductor material should be specified when requesting a quotation.

13-Mil Minimum Average FEP Insulation

The conductor is insulated with extruded FEP at a minimum average thickness of 13 mils and a minimum thickness of 12 mils at any point. This is precise UL terminology — a minimum average thickness, not a nominal production dimension — and we do not calculate or publish a finished outside diameter from AWG and insulation thickness, as conductor geometry and manufacturing tolerances are not part of the confirmed technical basis for this page.

Optional FEP or Glass-Braid Covering

UL Style 1332 permits an optional covering over the FEP-insulated conductor: either extruded FEP at 2 mils or heavier, or glass braid at 7 mils or heavier. This covering is optional — the basic UL 1332 18 AWG construction is FEP-insulated wire, and not every order automatically includes an outer covering. We do not add the covering thickness to the primary insulation thickness and describe the result as one universal wall; these are separate construction elements. Specify your covering requirement, if any, when requesting a quotation.

Appliance Internal Wiring Applications

UL Style 1332’s confirmed use is internal wiring of appliances. Appropriate commercial application language for this page includes appliance internal wiring, internal electrical connections within appliances, protected component-to-component appliance wiring, and OEM appliance internal wiring where UL Style 1332 is specified. Lighting equipment may be mentioned only where it genuinely qualifies as an appliance or end product using Style 1332 internal wiring — this page does not maintain lighting systems as the defining use, and does not position UL 1332 as sensor cable, thermocouple cable, instrumentation cable, or signal cable; UL Style 1332 does not establish impedance, capacitance, signal integrity, data rate, or RF performance. This page does not expand the use into building wiring, branch circuit wiring, field wiring, control-panel field wiring, external cable, or portable cord.

Optional Oil and Gasoline Resistant Constructions

UL Style 1332 permits optional Oil Resistant 80°C and Gasoline Resistant ratings. These are not universal properties of every UL 1332 wire — qualified Style 1332 constructions may include optional Oil Resistant 80°C and/or Gasoline Resistant ratings where applicable and marked. This page does not generalize these optional ratings into broad chemical resistance, acid resistance, solvent resistance, or immunity to industrial chemicals generally, and does not claim UV resistance, non-stick performance, or low-friction routing as part of this page’s primary value proposition — these are not established by the Style-level record for this construction.

300 Vac Rating vs Optional 600V Peak Tag

The primary continuous voltage rating for UL Style 1332 is 300 Vac. Separately, the Style permits a tag statement indicating “600 volts peak for electronic use only” where applicable to the qualified construction. This is not equivalent to a 600 Vac continuous rating, and this page does not describe UL 1332 as a 600V wire — 300 Vac remains the Style’s continuous voltage rating throughout this page.

UL Marking and Documentation

Qualifying UL AWM Style 1332 constructions can be supplied through the relevant qualified manufacturing scope for this Style. UL marking and documentation are confirmed according to the qualified Style 1332 construction supplied for the order and are not identical across every commercial variation. RoHS and REACH are separate regulatory frameworks from UL recognition; applicable RoHS / REACH documentation requirements can be confirmed according to the ordered construction.
