This page covers UL AWM Style 1659 PTFE wire supplied for Germany-bound equipment orders. The procurement context differs from a general enquiry in a few practical ways: German equipment manufacturers typically specify the construction against a fixed internal design before ordering, and the destination, Incoterm, reel format, marking and import documentation all need settling as part of the same quotation rather than afterwards.
UL Style 1659 is a single conductor with extruded insulation, rated 250°C and 600 Vac, covering 26 AWG to 4/0 AWG in solid or stranded round construction. The insulation material is PTFE/TFE, and the stated use is internal wiring. For general UL 1659 supply outside a Germany-bound order context, see UL 1659 PTFE wire for 250°C 600V internal wiring.

Order Options for Germany-Bound Equipment
The Style file fixes the insulation thicknesses and the conductor range, but leaves the remaining construction detail to the order. For a Germany-bound equipment order, the following need to be settled before the construction can be confirmed:
- Conductor material and plating — not defined at Style level; specify what the equipment design requires so it can be confirmed for the ordered construction.
- Detailed stranding — confirmed for the ordered construction rather than fixed by the Style.
- Colour — confirmed against production capability at quotation.
- Finished dimensions — the finished outside diameter follows from the conductor construction, the applicable insulation thickness group and any optional covering. Specify any dimensional constraint from the equipment routing.
- Mica tape wrap — optional construction; specify separately if required.
- Treated glass braid — optional construction; specify separately if required.
- Optional oil or gasoline rating — Oil Resistant 80°C and Gasoline Resistant are optional ratings; each must be requested and confirmed for the ordered construction.
- Reel length and packaging — specify the reel format the receiving assembly line works with.
- Marking — specify any marking requirement your own equipment evaluation depends on, so it can be confirmed within the applicable certified scope.
- Required documents — specify what the German import and equipment-evaluation process requires so availability can be confirmed.

Equipment Internal Wiring Requirements
The UL Style 1659 file states the use as internal wiring. Products supplied under this page are for internal wiring within Germany-bound equipment assemblies, and the boundary applies regardless of destination.
Suitability for a specific equipment design is established by the buyer against the actual conditions, not by the Style rating. The rated 250°C and 600 Vac figures are Style-level ratings — they do not on their own establish that a construction is appropriate for a particular supply circuit, routing path or thermal environment. The conditions that need confirming are the internal routing arrangement, the actual operating temperature at the wire location, the voltage and circuit configuration, the mechanical conditions along the routed path, and the termination method at each end.
This Style is not supplied for field wiring, building wiring, general power wiring, open furnace routing or direct flame exposure. Where the installation involves oil mist, fuel vapour or similar exposure, the applicable optional rating must be confirmed for the ordered construction rather than assumed from the insulation material.

Optional Ratings and Coverings
Four elements listed in the Style file are optional rather than default: the mica tape wrap, the treated glass braid, the Oil Resistant 80°C rating and the Gasoline Resistant rating.
Each must be specified separately — requesting one does not carry the others. The optional coverings do not raise the Style temperature rating above 250°C and do not extend the use beyond the internal wiring boundary. Where any of these is required, the ordered construction, the actual covering or rating applied, the product marking and any supporting documentation must be confirmed before production.

UL Marking and Required Documentation
The ordered construction, the applicable certified scope, the optional ratings where specified, the actual UL marking applied and the supporting documents must all be confirmed before production. Only products bearing the applicable UL Mark should be represented as covered products.
For a Germany-bound order, confirm the following as part of the quotation: the final destination, the requested Incoterm, the shipment method, the packaging and reel length, the marking, the delivery schedule, and the required UL, RoHS, REACH or import documents. These are settled in the quotation rather than fixed in advance.

Two other fluoropolymer Styles are available: UL 1332 (200°C / 300 Vac, extruded FEP, 30–10 AWG) and UL 10362 (250°C / 600 Vac, extruded PFA, 30 AWG–4/0 AWG). Style selection depends on the voltage, AWG, construction, equipment design, installation conditions and applicable certified scope. The wider ranges are available under Fluoropolymer Wire and AWM Wire.
