UL 1007 PVC Wire 80°C / 300V — 32–16 AWG Appliance Hook-Up · CIF HCMC & Surabaya
The Entry-Level UL AWM Specification for Consumer Electronics and Household Appliance Internal Wiring
UL Style 1007 is a single-conductor appliance wiring material (AWM) insulated with extruded PVC, rated for 80°C continuous operation at 300V AC with a horizontal-flame rating. The style covers conductor sizes from 32 AWG to 16 AWG in solid or stranded construction with a uniform insulation wall of 15 mils minimum average across the full gauge range. Optional oil resistance at 60°C or 80°C is available. Tags may indicate 600V peak for electronic use only. CableApex supplies UL 1007 wire as a UL Recognized Component — file on record — meeting the full dimensional and performance requirements of UL 758 AWM.
UL 1007 is the most cost-effective AWM specification for the largest category of internal wiring in Vietnamese and Indonesian appliance and electronics manufacturing — applications where 300V is sufficient and the ambient temperature at the wire routing location does not exceed 80°C. CIF Ho Chi Minh City and CIF Surabaya, transit 10–14 days.

Conductor & Dimension Reference
The table covers the most commonly ordered gauges across Vietnamese and Indonesian electronics and appliance manufacturing. AWG is the primary sizing reference.
| Gauge (AWG) | Cross-Section (mm²) | Stranding | Ins. Wall (mm) | Nom. OD (mm) | Max. Resistance (Ω/km) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 28 AWG | 0.08 | 7/0.12 | 0.38 | 1.12 | 239.0 |
| 26 AWG | 0.13 | 7/0.16 | 0.38 | 1.24 | 145.0 |
| 24 AWG | 0.20 | 7/0.20 | 0.38 | 1.36 | 89.4 |
| 22 AWG | 0.33 | 7/0.25 | 0.38 | 1.50 | 57.6 |
| 20 AWG | 0.52 | 10/0.25 | 0.38 | 1.70 | 36.4 |
| 18 AWG | 0.82 | 16/0.25 | 0.38 | 1.90 | 23.2 |
| 16 AWG | 1.31 | 26/0.25 | 0.38 | 2.20 | 14.6 |
Applications in Vietnam and Indonesia
- Consumer electronics internal wiring (Vietnam — Bắc Ninh / Hải Phòng): Signal and power-supply hook-up in smartphones, set-top boxes, TV sets, and computer peripherals. Fine gauges 22–28 AWG are dominant. The 300V rating covers low-voltage internal circuits, and the UL Recognized Component status satisfies the internal wiring requirement for products submitted for UL listing for North American export.
- Household appliance harnesses (Vietnam — Bình Dương / Đồng Nai): Motor leads, thermostat connections, and switch wiring in electric fans, rice cookers, kettles, and blenders. 18 AWG and 16 AWG are the workhorse gauges. The 80°C rating is appropriate where ambient temperature at the wire routing path does not exceed 80°C under normal operating conditions.
- LED lighting driver wiring (Vietnam and Indonesia): Internal driver-to-board connection in LED panels, tubes, and luminaires where the thermal environment at the wire is within 80°C.
- Bulk wholesale supply (Indonesia — Tangerang / Bekasi / Batam): 18 AWG UL 1007 is the highest-volume single wire specification in Indonesian household appliance manufacturing by total metres consumed per production run. Bulk procurement CIF Surabaya reduces per-metre cost on this high-volume standard specification.
- Power tool and office equipment internal wiring: Hook-up leads in corded tools and printer/copier assemblies within the 32–16 AWG conductor range.
UL 1007 vs UL 1569 — When to Upgrade
UL 1007 and UL 1569 share the same 300V rating and the same insulation wall at overlapping gauges, but differ in temperature ceiling and conductor range. The upgrade decision is straightforward:
| UL Style | Insulation | Temp | Voltage | AWG Range | When to Specify |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1007 (this page) | PVC | 80°C | 300V | 32–16 AWG | 80°C limit not exceeded; conductor ≤ 16 AWG; lowest unit cost |
| 1569 | PVC | 80 / 90 / 105°C | 300V | 30–2 AWG | Ambient > 80°C, or conductor > 16 AWG needed |
| 1015 | PVC | 80 / 90 / 105°C | 600V | 30–2000 kcmil | Circuit voltage > 300V, or UL 508A panel at 480V |
